Casio has just announced another new analog-digital show, the G-Shock GA-500. The first three models incorporate the GA-500-1A (black), the GA-500-1A4 (red and black), and the GA-500-7A (white).
The plan of the GA-500 series is inspired from urban sports and features a large round face with a cross shape design that evokes the appearance of a wheel on a bike or skateboard. The face includes a 3D index and analog hands, inset dial, and LCD screen. The side switches have a slanted, streamlined shape to reduce contact with the wrist. The watch has a large twist button to easily stop the stopwatch and there is also a characteristic to start the stopwatch timing directly in timekeeping mode.
Features of the GA-500 series include all the usual like shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, world time, 1/100 second stopwatch (24 hours), countdown timer (60 minutes), 5 alarms with 1 snooze alarm, hourly time signal, complete auto-calendar, 12/24 hour format, button tone, LED light with afterglow, hand shift feature, and an estimated 3-year battery life. The measurements and weight are roughly 57.6 × 48.9 × 17.1 mm and 75 g.
The GA-500 series represents something of a bold new style for the G-Shock analog-digital lineup. The style is a departure from the usual G-Shock designs and also the extra stopwatch features should appeal to athletes of all sorts.
